It's been 2 weeks, so it's time for another status update. The number of supported games is now 1,788, up 66 from 2 weeks ago. The number of games in Work in Progress is 537, which is up only 1 from last time. That means 65 games have been finished off.
So it's actually been a pretty good 2 week period, overall. We fell behind slightly, by 1 game, but that's not too bad. I didn't get nearly as much done the past week as I would have liked, having been slightly busier than normal, but I'll try to make up for it some next week.Read more >
Time for another status update - a 3 week one again this time. We definitely fell behind more, I'm afraid, though that's not too surprising - this past week was pretty high on the number of game's released.
The number of Supported Games is now at 1722, up 93 from 3 weeks ago. Work in Progress games is at 536, up 64 from last time. The puts the number of games finished at 29.
On the bright side, a new season of Orphan Black and Game of Thrones just started :P In terms of the wiki, hopefully we'll have a slow period sooner or later for catching up.Read more >
I wrote the same thing in the Talk section for the Gems by Game page, but it's a little more likely to be seen here, so repeating it. The gem values for La-Mulana have definitely changed. They used to be 60 for emotes/backgrounds, and now they're 40. I've got image proof and the item still in my inventory if there's any doubt. This makes things rather...difficult. Here's the image showing proof of the new gem value, though it'll expire after a few weeks of nobody looking at it or something: http://puu.sh/hiGYh/b2f98fe15f.jpg I could've swore before that it happened to Shantae: Risky's Revenge - Director's Cut as well, dropping to 40 from either 60 or 80 (I forget which), and this seems to confirm that I wasn't crazy. It appears that I missed last week's usual 2 week update. Time flies, I guess. Anyway, here's a 3 week status update:
The number of supported games is now 1629, up 69 from 3 weeks ago. Work in progress is at 472 games, up 38 games from 3 weeks ago. That indicates that 31 games have been finished off.
Definitely unfortunate, falling behind some, but it's not terribly unexpected since iGhome's disappearance. Still, we're not doing too badly in keeping up.Read more >

So anyway, I finally worked out a system that makes me feel a little more productive than I used to be when I started contributing regularly, but now that I'm taking over a lot more of the new game management, it's messing up my jive. Also, threatening to overwhelm me since I have a couple ACTUAL responsibilities on the horizon (just when the other regulars vanished, too).
I'm not saying this because I'm resentful or anything (honest!), just sort of lamenting the eventual crash and burn of my striving to reach minimum number of Works in Progess =p

First the boring standard stuff: The number of supported games is at 1,560, up 49 from 2 weeks ago. The number of Work in Progress game pages is 434, down 24 from 2 weeks ago. Between those 2 numbers, that means 73 games have been finished off.
The second thing is that I guess we're ready to start working on categorizing background images. Having not really come up with a better solution, I guess we'll use pretty much the same sort of system as the emoticons, with the slight difference being that I started naming them as "Profile Backgrounds/NameOfCategory", with a slash instead of a colon.

Anyway, I've pretty much solely been editing the Gems by Game page, which is primarily a giant table of games. Every time I want to add a new game, and thus a new row, I have to go into the Source Editor to do it. Is there any way to do that from the Visual Editor? I may just be missing something obvious, but I can't figure out how to do it.

I think I screwed this blog post up - I submitted it without any content, and it keeps wanting to make me comment on it instead of editing it...
Anyway, Supported Games is now at 1511, up from 1465, meaning 46 games have been added in the past 2 weeks. That's a much more normal pace than last time's 73. At the same time, the Work in Progress category shrunk from 476 to 458. That means that 64 games have been finished off.
We're probably getting closer to the lower limit of what's possible, in terms of backlog. We might be able to get down to 400 games, but beyond that, there's going to be a lot of games where there's just no badge that's been created for it yet. Beyond that, it's just a matter of maintaining things and keeping up with the…Read more >
The number of games adding cards this past 2 weeks has been rather crazy, with 73 games adding cards. Supported games increased from 1392 to 1465. I'm fairly certain that's the most games in a 2 week period ever, by a fairly wide margin - looking through my previous posts, it seems the previous high, hit a couple of times, was 48. I certainly hope this isn't a new normal.
Work in Progress pages went from 478 to... 476? That just doesn't seem right. I know iGnome and DanglingModifier have both been extremely busy (I admit to slacking myself...), but I just find it hard to believe that we not only kept up with that surge of games but actually made progress. Happy New Year everyone. Rather late, I know, but hey, it's the first blog post I've written in 2015...
The Steam winter sale is over, and so is the respite that provides. The number of supported games is now up to 1345, an increase of 29. The number of Work in Progress games is currently at 471, which is pretty amazingly low - a decrease of 18 from last week. I think that's probably the lowest number of unfinished pages since there were 471 games total with cards. Anyway, between those two, it means that 47 games have been finished off in the past 2 weeks.

In the past 2 weeks, the number of Supported Games has increased from 1291 to 1316, an increase of 25. The number of Work in Progress games has decreased from 503 to 489. That means that 39 games have been finished off.
In terms of traffic, the number of page views has been between 25k and 30k per day, well above the normal 10k-12k that the wiki normally receives. On the WAM meter, we managed to set a new high point, at rank 243, and have been consistently between 250 and 300. Obviously, the big news on this update is the start of the Steam winter event. These are always interesting, not only because of being able to see what Valve is doing on Steam, but also because it drives so much extra traffic to this wiki. The primary method of checking this out is the Wikia WAM score. which isn't directly a traffic meter, but does also take that into account. Normally this wiki hovers in the 400-450th range (compared to all the other wikis on Wikia.) Right now we're at #331. I'd be willing to bet that we'll go higher still, partially because I believe the score is averaged over time, but also because there will undoubtedly be a lot of people who haven't been paying attention much to what's going on on Steam, but will once…Read more >
I don't know if the "fuzzy" search parameters are so people can still find stuff if they misspell it, but it's incredibly irritating searching for, say, 1Heart on the Steam Community Market, because stuff with "1" OR "heart" (but not necessarily both) shows up and dilutes my search...
Then I search for, say, "light emoticon"... and  doesn't appear.
I don't know how the search works, but it's not helpful. (I did try sorting only by specific game, but lo! 1Heart is not in the dropdown.)

I've finally recovered from my turkey coma, so it's time for a status update:
It's been a fairly quiet 2 week period, probably related to the holiday. There are now 1243 Supported Games, an increase of 40. The Work in Progress category, meanwhile, is down to 479, a decrease of 11. Put together, that means 51 games have been finished off in the past 2 weeks. Probably bigger than the number of games there are is the work that's been done on emoticons, which is pretty sweet, IMO. There's a lot of categories I never would have thought of, myself.
Probably the next project will be creating a similar categorization of profile backgrounds. I think that will be more difficult, though: while emoticons tend to be fairly simple images, most background…Read more >

490! We finally broken the invincible 500 barrier! 68 games have been finished off the past 2 weeks, which is definitely above average. Its also worth mentioning, I think, that the total number of pages on the wiki is now over 11,000, and the number of images 42,500.

2 weeks ago, in my last status update, I wrote that 48 games had been added, the highest number since I had started writing these status updates. Well, in the past 2 weeks, 49 games have been added. I think we can safely say that Steam trading cards are successful, what with the sheer number of games that keep adding them.
Anyway, that brings the number of Supported Games to 1169. The number of games in Work in Progress went from 518 to 514. So despite it being the busiest 2 week period ever, we actually made progress - 53 game pages have been finished off.

Its been a fairly busy 2 weeks, in terms of the number of games added: Supported Games has increased from 1072 to 1120, meaning 48 games have had cards added since the last update. Taking a look at the old update posts that I've written, that's the most games in a 2 week period yet (by one - the previous highest amount was 47, back in July.) I think we can blame Disney for that.
We did fall behind a bit on the Work in Progress category front, though not as badly as I feared considering the number of games: the Work in Progress category has gone from 516 to 518. Time for the standard bi-weekly update, so...
The number of Supported Games has finally crossed 1000 - 1031 to be exact. It's been about 16 months since Steam trading cards were added, which puts the rate at about 64 games per month, or 15 per week (using the more accurate 70 weeks measure.) This past 2 week period has been a higher than average, though - in the past 2 weeks, 46 games have been added. 12 of them this past Thursday alone...
Needless to say, that sudden influx of games has put us behind a bit - we now have 527 games in Work in Progress, up from 513. That means that 32 games have been finished off. Time for the usual status update on progress, so here we go:
In the past 2 weeks, the number of games in the Work in Progress category has gone from 531 to 513. Meanwhile, the number of Supported Games has gone from 957 to 985. Between those two numbers, that means that 46 games have been finished in the past 2 weeks.
There should be a couple of rather interesting points coming up very soon. The first is that the number of games is going to be over 1000 very soon, quite likely this week, the following week if not. Back when I started working on this wiki, there were only a couple dozen games with cards. While there were certainly a lot of games being added to the program, I can honestly say I never expected to get up to 1000 of them, certain…Read more >
I'm a bit late on this status update, as its been 4 weeks since the last one.

Between those two, it means that 94 game pages have been finished off in the past 4 weeks. It also means that the total number of game pages that are complete is now up to 426.

Time for another bi-weekly status update. In the last 2 weeks, the number of games has increased from 822 to 880, an addition of 47 games. Work hasn't managed to keep up with that, I'm afraid, with Work in Progress going from 532 to 548, meaning we fell behind by 16. Completed games is now at 332.
Its a bit depressing to fall behind. A decent part of that is because of the addition last week of the new layout in Supported Games. That was probably about 5 days of working mostly on that, and it happened during a week when the number of games adding cards was a good deal higher than normal. I'd still say it was worth it, though.

Time for another status update. There's 2 things I'd like to discuss this time. First off, the usual 'state of the wiki':
In the past 2 weeks, the number of games has increased to 833, an increase of 35. Not nearly as bad as I feared after the end of the summer sale. The number of games in the Work in Progress category has gone down to 532, a decrease of 6 since last time. Between those two numbers, that means 41 games have been finished off in the past 2 weeks, for a total of 301 completed game pages.
The second thing is something that's been bothering me for a bit, which is that massive table on the Supported Games category page. Its been getting ridiculously big for a long time now. We're over 800 games, probably going to hit 1000 within…Read more >

Though its only been a week instead of the normal 2, I still feel like writing an update tonight, so...
The Supported Games category is up to 798, meaning only 7 games have had cards added this past week. Yeah, it's been a REALLY slow week because of the summer sale. Meanwhile, Work in progress is down to 538, meaning 26 game pages have been finished off. It's SO nice to make a good chunk of progress like that. It also means the number of finished game pages is now over 250 - 260 to be exact.
Next week will undoubtedly have a lot of games releases, since a lot of games that were originally scheduled to come out this past week were postponed so as to not compete with the sale.

Another 2 weeks, another update. We now have 791 games listed in the Supported Games category. The Work in Progress category is down to 557. That means since the last update, 40 games have had cards added, and 45 games have been finished off.
The Steam Summer Sale has now started, as I'm sure everyone knows. Judging by the previous sale (the Holiday Sale 2013), we should have a fairly quiet week, in terms of new games. Companies don't like to release new games during the sales, since they tend to be overshadowed and not sell well. There's still some games in the Steam coming soon page that list cards, but not nearly as many as normal. So with any luck, we should have some quiet to do some catching up.Read more >
Its been 2 weeks, so time for another status update. These past 2 weeks have been a little crazy, with 47 games having had cards added. It was actually mostly just the past week, with 30 games having been added in that time. I think that's more than has been added in a single week in months.
Needless to say, we haven't managed to keep up with finishing games off with that deluge. We're now up to 562 games in the Work in Progress category, up from 553 games 2 weeks ago, so we've falled behind by 9. That means 38 games were finished off, which is quite good. If it wasn't for the rather riduclous number of new games, that would have been a decent among of progress.
Hopefully things slow down for a bit now so we can go back to making progress.… Read more >

One thing that this wiki definitely uses is a lot of images. Adding them can get pretty repetitious, especially putting them in the right categories. And that's where a tool I discovered fairly recently makes things a whole lot easier: MultipleUpload. Instead of uploading images one at a time, you can upload up to 10 them at once. That, however, isn't the time-saving part.
The time-saving part is the section labeled "File description". In there, you can put a description of the file that you're uploading that gets applied to every one of the images - including categories, if you know the right wikitext. Earlier, I uploaded the images for the game Pool Nation, and this is a screenshot of what I filled in for the file description when I uploa…Read more >
