The Steam Points Shop or simply Points Shop is a points-based profile decoration store that allows users to purchase various aesthetical elements for their public profiles, this gives users another way to get Avatars, Profile Backgrounds, Emoticons, Animated Stickers and more without the need to buy directly from the Steam Market or from crafting game Badges, Accrued points cannot be used to purchase video games, software, DLC or Steam Trading Cards.
Description[]
The Steam Points Shop offers the following profile decorations to users; Animated Stickers, Avatars, Animated Avatars, Chat Effects, Emoticons, Frames, Animated Frames, Steam Deck Keyboards, Profile Backgrounds, Animated Profile Backgrounds, Steam Deck Startup Movies and Showcases which is a main reason why the Points Shop exists.
These cosmetics can be purchased by using points that are awarded to users for purchasing any game, DLC, hardware, application, soundtrack, or any in-game item. 100 points are given for every $1.00 the user spends.[1] The main difference between purchasing any cosmetic from the Points Shop instead of the Steam Marketplace or through crafting Badges with Steam Trading Cards is that you will not have the ability to Market or Trade any Points Shop items.
The Points Shop brought along with it the Community Awards feature, artists, workshop creators and more can receive a Community Award on their profile, art or workshop creations from users, the recipient of an award will receive Points for the Points Shop once given.
